NATURE PARK OF AIRE AND CANDEEIROS MOUNTAINS

O The Natural Park of Serras de Aire e Candeeiros is a protected area created on May 4, 1979 and aims to protect natural aspects as well as to defend the architectural heritage existing in Serra de Aire and Serra dos Candeeiros; has an area of 38 900 hectares.

The Park is the natural habitat of hundreds of species, some of which are rare in the national territory.

The biggest architectural monument in the Park is the “Arc of Memory”, which transports us to “nearer” times – the reign of D. Afonso Henriques.
