It was commissioned by the Count of\nOur\u00e9m, the grandson of <strong>D. Nuno \u00c1lvares Pereira<\/strong> and has a compact structure with modern active defensive systems, including two large pentagonal towers that\nserved as bulwarks and offered greater resistance to bombard shots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is a palatial area located behind the towers that served as the Counts\u2019 residence. It has the shape of a\ntall tower disposed along the width and connected to the bulwarks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the top of the hill, slightly set back from the palace and the castle, is the primitive castle of \u201cAbdegas\u201d, the ancient name of this settlement, whose building dates back to the 12th century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">Attend the <strong>live Via Crucis<\/strong> in the Medieval Town during the Holy week ( Easter).<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>O castelo de Our\u00e9m \u00e9 uma das mais inovadoras obras de arquitetura militar do s\u00e9c.
